Before opening my own law firm in 2005, I served clients as a divorce and family law attorney, as well as working for the federal public defender, while also offering alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services as a credentialed mediator. This diverse experience, which includes practice as a trial attorney, serves me in my current capacity as a divorce, probate and criminal defense attorney.

Having worked as a public school teacher, I have seen firsthand the effect family disputes can have on children.

During my teaching career, I also learned a great amount of patience, and that sometimes people must come to terms emotionally with their family and personal crisis before they can handle it legally. I wanted to practice in areas of law that matter a great deal personally to families and children. I have both the patience and the understanding needed to realize that there are times you first have to deal with the person before dealing with the case.

With that patience and understanding also comes the knowledge that the divorce, criminal and probate process will never go as quickly as my clients would like, and there will likely be times you grow frustrated with the legal system.

Education & Experience

I have earned credentials in Colorado and Texas as a mediator. Since 2005, courts have appointed me as both a child and family investigator (one who examines allegations of parental misconduct and reports findings to the judge) and a guardian ad litem (one who serves as a child's lawyer regarding his or her best interests).

I graduated from Texas A&M University School of Law and completed my undergraduate studies at the University of North Texas. I have worked as a public school teacher and a newspaper reporter.

Personal Life

In my free time, I enjoy spending my time outdoors with my friends, family and unofficial nieces and nephews. I especially enjoy attending games of the Colorado Rockies and Colorado Rapids. I also enjoy the occasional good cigar.
